French scores 39 as Seahawks crush Panthers
Senior co-captain Tatum French had one of the best scoring games of any Boothbay Region High School female basketball player, amassing 39 points – 16 in the first quarter – to lead the Seahawks to a 61-33 win over the visiting North Yarmouth Academy Panthers Tuesday night, Dec. 9.
French had 16 field goals and was 7 of 7 from the free throw line. She was all over the court hauling down rebounds, blocking shots and making steals.
The game also marked the return of sophomore Eleanor Erwin, who had to sit out last season due to several leg injuries. Erwin added to the scoring with 12 points, including two 3-pointers. Freshman Aryana Gray added eight points for the Seahawks, who improved to 2-0 on the season.
North Yarmouth (0-2) was led by Daicey Spiers with 12 points, followed by Abby Lacombe with 10.
The Seahawks' next game is home Saturday, Dec. 13 at 1 p.m. against Sacopee Valley (0-2).
