Boothbay Region High School (BRHS) Class of 2026 gathered to celebrate Fishermen's Festival Field Day on Friday, June 5, following marching practice. BRHS and the Class of 2026 would like to thank First Nations Bank, BBH Apparel, Pier One Pizza and Mill Cove Lobster Pound for sponsoring the event.

Students assembled by homeroom to form teams: Johnson, Gorey, Brewer, L'Heureux. Emcee Coach Dennis Dacus led the seniors through his classic matchups of beloved games, which started as a way to assemble seniors during COVID and has since left a lasting mark.

As is customary, festivities kicked off with a race for tutus: blue, gold, or both if the senior was quick on their feet. Up next, Last Word, a timed turn-taking game with a photo diary of losers. Mark Gorey’s homeroom won a nail-biting session of Pictionary. Students drew hilarious prompts: chicken nuggets, mothballs, and Mike Cherry, to name a few.

The title of 2026 Rock, Paper, Scissors Champion belongs unquestionably to Tatum French, who dominated her classmates to win. The game is played as a pyramid-style tournament. Students advance or recede based on winning or losing two-person matchups of the well-known hand game. After pizza, Matt Brewer’s homeroom ruled supreme in both Sherman field activities. The chalk flew during tug-of-war (often more about dousing each other with colorful sprays than winning the match), and Rose Campbell brought home the victory for her class in the cod relay. Three teams of students took turns donning oil slicks and holding a codfish as they ran the baseball diamond. The first round of the relay was tight, with runners from all three teams inches away from the next, but the game is won or lost in transition. Slow wardrobe changes set in in the following rounds, allowing Campbell to nearly walk in for the win.
