CANDI JONETH/Boothbay RegisterThe Lincoln Academy Eagles beat the Boothbay Region High School Seahawks, 80-75, in Unified basketball Thursday, Feb. 26, at BRHS. While the Seahawks continue to look for their first win, it was a night of records for senior Caiden Farmer (24 points) and sophomores Matthew Jackson (28 points) and Brandon Seigars with three 3-pointers, the most of the game, over Eagles center Emmett Anderson, with two 3-pointers. Seigars scored 11 points in all. When Seigars hits his groove, he leads the team in 3-point plays, posting consistent numbers each game.
Jackson and Anderson tipped off the game, with first points on the board going to Eagle Harper Libby for two. Jackson scored first points for the Seahawks and continued to dominate the boards throughout the game, taking several 3-point looks, but none fell. The game was close, 37-33 Eagles at the half, before the Eagles secured the win in the final minutes of play.
Senior Anthony Angelico had a solid performance, six layups for 12 points, with two impressive drives to the goal. Seahawks were missing their female lead players: Chloe Joneth, out with injury, and Makayla Fairservice, absent from the game with plans to return for the home game matchup against Hall-Dale, Tuesday, March 3 at 3 p.m.
That could be senior night. Coaches continue to work calendars as efforts are underway to reschedule two missed games from earlier in the season. Feb. 24, the Seahawks had to cancel a home game against Morse for lack of healthy players.
Seahawk helpers for the Feb. 26 game included point-man Ronan Drage, and Cole Hyson, Eleanor Marshall, Maddie Andreasen, Arabella Hodgdon and Aryana Gray. The Seahawks are coached by Dennis Dacus, Tanya Thibault and Tammy Blackman. The Eagles are coached by Morgan Brewer. Walt Gorneau officiated.
