CTL student honored by Scholastic Writing Awards
The Northeast Region of the Scholastic Writing Competition has honored an eighth-grade student from Edgecomb’s Center for Teaching and Learning as a recipient of its 2026 awards for excellence in writing.
Fiona Bishop of Edgecomb was awarded an honorable mention for her poem, “Tinted Glass and Gilded Frames,” which she wrote in teacher Stacey Adams’ seventh and eighth grade writing class.
The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the gold standard for recognizing the creative achievements of U.S. students in grades 8-12. The contest dates back to 1923. Past winners in art and writing include Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Robert Redford, Joyce Carol Oates, Stephen King and John Updike.
