During a July 21 Community School District (CSD) trustees meeting, Director of Facilities David Benner said he's requested that Encore Fire Protection do a walk-through of Boothbay Region Elementary School (BRES) to inspect the wet sprinkler system and visible equipment. Code requires this every five years, and the school was due for an inspection next year. The estimated cost is about $2,533.  

A leak has been found in an area of Boothbay Region High School's roof that was not part of earlier roof repair projects. Proposals for metal work repair are forthcoming. 

In other business, the trustees met with Lavallee Brensinger Principal Architect Lance Whitehead, Project Manager Eric LeBlanc, and Dirigo Engineering Owner Representatives Thomas Perkins (not the CSD school board member) and Zach Quinn to discuss the details and scope of the BRES renovation project. Due to the lawsuit delay, material and labor costs have increased.  

The board decided on fixed windows rather than operable ones for the new construction. There was a question about roof repairs near the elevator, which are to be reviewed and repaired by a district roofer/contract rather than the general contractor. The trustees also affirmed that the cafeteria would stay open throughout the project.
