Countdown to Paddlepalooza on Linekin Bay
With under two weeks to go, anticipation is building for the Boothbay Sea and Science Center’s (BSSC) inaugural Paddlepalooza on Linekin Bay! Scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 8 (rain date: Sunday, Aug. 9), this community-wide event invites paddlers of all experience levels and all ages 12+ to take to the water for a morning of fun, camaraderie, and purpose.
Whether you operate a kayak, canoe, rowboat, or paddleboard, Paddlepalooza offers a scenic and enjoyable course tailored for everyone:
Event Location: Murray Hill Road Public Boat Launch, East Boothbay
Check-in: 8 a.m.
Paddlers Launch: 9 a.m.
Participants can select from two designated routes starting and ending at the Murray Hill Road launch:
Course A (9 a.m. start): A 4.3-mile route heading east toward Bayville, following the coastline to Linekin Bay Resort and rounding the southern tip of Cabbage Island.
Course B (9:15 a.m. start): A 1.7-mile route heading south around Perch Island, keeping paddlers close to the scenic coastline.
Making Waves for Youth Sea and Science Education: Every dollar raised through Paddlepalooza directly benefits the BSSC Financial Assistance Program, ensuring that experiential marine science and sailing education remain affordable and accessible to local youth and families regardless of financial circumstance.
BSSC is also proud to honor Paul and Sue Taylor as the official 2026 event honorees in celebration of this inaugural launch.
