BRHS robotics team compete in Bangor
This past Saturday members of the Boothbay HIgh School robotics teams traveled to Bangor for the second competition of the season.
The Narwhal team (Moriah Smith, Zuri Smith, Elijah Smith, Sam Ware, Maggie Curtis) and Crush Depth Crew (Afton Warren-Burden, Kolton Campbell, Lysander LeFevre) competed among the 42 teams representing 15 different schools from across the state.
For Crush Depth Crew, this was their second tournament of the season while Narwhal was competing as a team for the first time. After some last-minute changes to make inspection in the morning, both teams had a successful day with Crush Depth Crew finishing the qualifying round ranked ninth and able to select a partner moving into the elimination round. After picking The Narhwal as their partner, the Boothbay teams formed an alliance and advanced to the semifinals before being eliminated by a very strong alliance who would go on to be defeated in the championship match.
Although eliminated sooner than they had hoped, both teams had success throughout the day and stayed positive, learning new strategies and ideas to incorporate into their robots before the next competition on Feb. 7 in Monmouth. We are looking forward to a powerful performance in Monmouth to hopefully qualify for the State Championship.
