Brain health seminar Aug. 17 at Bigelow Lab
You're invited to a free seminar on “How to Improve Your Brain Health” at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences on Monday, Aug. 17 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m.
The Brain Health Program at the Boothbay Region Health Center has been helping local Mainers improve their brains for 5 and 1/2 years. It started with 20 patients in January 2020, and now has over 140 active participants committed to improving their brain health. You'll have a chance to sample brain-healthy snacks, learn how to adopt a brain-healthy lifestyle and how to avoid or mitigate cognitive issues, based on the latest research.
Dr. Allan S. "Chip" Teel and patients from his Brain Health program will present great news about to protect your brain from dementia and Alzheimer's and other forms of cognitive decline. Dr. Teel will describe the personalized medicine approach he is using to find and treat close to 40 "dementogens" that we now know are causes of cognitive decline. Patients will describe the lifestyle program they have been following to keep their brains healthy. You can adopt any or all of these proven lifestyle recommendations to protect your own cognition. You will also hear the latest research findings from the collaborative scientific research this patient community and Dr. Teel have undertaken together.
Please plan to arrive at Bigelow Laboratory for Ocean Sciences at 60 Bigelow Drive, East Boothbay by 4:30 p.m. to register and enjoy brain healthy snacks. The program will begin at 5 in the Auditorium and will run until 6:30, including Q&A.
