Boys lead way at USM New Year's Invitational
The Boothbay Region High School indoor track team boys took three podium placements at the University of Southern Maine New Year’s Invitational. The event was Jan. 2 and 3 in Gorham.
Leading the Seahawks, Ross Gaffney and Nathan Percival placed second and third in the one-mile race walk finals in 8:14.54 and 9:10.49; and AJ Crocker placed third in the 5,000m run finals in 17:37.51. In addition, Isaac Fanslau placed 64th in the 55m dash prelims in 7.25 and 32nd in the 200m dash finals in 25.01.
For the girls, Rose Campbell and Moriah Smith placed 24th and 41st in the 55m dash prelims in 7.93 and 8.12; Campbell and Smith placed 39th and 54th in the 200m dash finals in 29.48 and 30.17; and Zuri Smith placed 15th in the shot put finals with 27-3.75.
The team’s next meet is scheduled for Jan. 9 in Gorham.
