Boothbay Harbor Rotary Club
Last Thursday Kim Mastrianni and Desiree Scorcia each gave a ”Classification Talk." In 20 minutes they shared their life stories and why they wanted to be in Rotary. We learned that Desiree has a degree in physics, but minored in journalism. Kim moved to Maine from New Hampshire where she and her husband had a sheep and apple tree farm. They each have had very interesting and varied lives making for a fun night learning about them. Thank you Desiree and Kim.
This Thursday is “Change Over” dinner. We welcome Jim Herbold as club president and thank Laurie Zimmerli for her leadership, humor and commitment as president during the last year. It's always a fun meeting. Come wish Jim well and thank Laurie for a great year.
But first, Wednesdaywe're in the Windjammer Parade. Meet at the school at 2 p.m. to decorate the float, 3 p.m. if you just want to grab a seat on the trailer and help ferry a few cars to the parade end point. At 4 p.m. we start rolling along with many of the businesses, non-profits, fire trucks, antique cars and other parade members. So join us. The theme this year is a “Salute to the US Navy.”So if you're a Navy veteran, wear your uniform with pride.
Then the following Thursday we take a week off (no meeting on July 2nd).
The Rotary Barn will be open as usual on July 4 - 8:30 to 11 a.m., at 66 Montgomery Road. We'll be selling furniture, tools, household goods, antiques, boats, just about anything at great prices.
