BH selectmen talk spring cleaning, approve warrant
Boothbay Harbor is getting a new coat of paint. March 23, Town Manager Julia Latter reported public works will be sprucing up the area to get ready for the summer season, including sweeping up road sand, reroofing the public restroom in Whale Park, doing bracing work on the fish pier and restoring the fence at Barrett’s Park.
The selectmen approved the annual town warrant, which includes a $6,763,908 budget. This is a 5.6% increase from last year. The town meeting to vote on the warrant is at 9 a.m. May 2 at the Boothbay Harbor fire station.
In other business, Latter said that the frame of the new sand and salt shed on Middle Road has been erected. Minimal interior work and external paving need to be done before it is completed. She expects it will be loaded with salt in the fall.
In March 2025, the selectmen accepted a $162,493 bid from General Steel Buildings to construct the 50-foot by 62-foot by 20-foot building after their prior structure was deemed in poor condition and an insurance liability issue.
Progress has been made with installing lighting on the footbridge. Control trainer Jay Lehrhaupt and the electrician will be testing the new, upgraded system the week of March 30, and the selectmen hope to have the lights operational later that same week.
