Audition for 'Don't Dress For Dinner' March 1, 2
The Waldo Theatre in Waldoboro has announced an open casting call for its upcoming community theatre production of "Don’t Dress for Dinner," a fast-paced, comedic British farce to be staged at The Waldo in June.
Auditions for the six character roles, three adult men and three adult women, are scheduled at The Waldo from 1 to 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 1 or 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, March 2. The auditions are open to all interested members of the Midcoast community. Stage experience is preferred, but absolutely not required.
The play takes place at a charming European country house just as a romantic weekend begins. But as the three couples—spouses, best friends, secret lovers, and uninvited guests—begin to collide, confuse alibis, and swap identities, an evening of hilarious confusion ensues with characters improvising at breakneck speed while the evening slowly goes off the rails.
"This play is an actor's playground," said Laura Morris, the show's director. "In the grand tradition of the British farce requiring "who's-on-first" fast dialogue, quick wit, physical comedy and the confusion of many hidden secrets, this show is a huge crowd pleaser and a whirlwind of fun for both those on stage and in the audience. This show is all about laughter for everyone involved!"
