Dear Editor:

I recently attended the Maine Adult Education Association Symposium at Sebasco Harbor Resorts in Phippsburg. I brought with me a Best of Boothbay-Wiscasset raffle basket for the annual fundraiser with an estimated value of $680!

The generosity of Boothbay Region and Wiscasset businesses, for the third year in a row, made the Boothbay-Wiscasset Regional Adult Education prize one of the most popular out of the 19 baskets. A total of $2,693 was raised to provide adult learner and instructor scholarships, a record amount.

The winner of our basket was, in a strange twist, me. I bought 50 tickets and only put one in our cup, and well, I guess it was meant to be that I get to enjoy all the goodies provided by the businesses I love.

I want to thank the following businesses for their support of adult learners in the Boothbay Region and across the state: A Silver Lining, Boothbay Railway Village, Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens, Coastal Maine Popcorn, Eventide Specialties, Fiction, Midcoast Creative Studio, Red’s Eats, Seawicks Candles, Sweetz & More, and Tidal Force Creations at Boothbay Harbor Artisans Coop.
