59th annual Barbershop Chorus Show
A capella music will fill the air once again on Saturday, Sept. 13 at 2 p.m. at the Water of Life Lutheran Church, Rte 1, #618 Newcastle. Barbershop Choruses include the Nor'easters, FairWinds Mixed Barbershop Chorus and special guest, Maine-ly Harmony Women's Chorus from Gardiner, Maine.
A capella means voices only, just the beautiful chords of four part harmony, without any instrumentation accompanying it. A capella groups work hard at making those perfect harmonies and staying in pitch to the true key of each song. It's a challenge that's happily accepted by each male and female singer as they rehearse and practice to hone their musical craft. For some, it's a hobby, but for many, it's a way of life.
Songs will include favorites like “Sentimental Journey,” “Chances Are,” “Lida Rose,” “In My Life,” “Can You Feel the Love Tonight,” “Under the Boardwalk,” “Little Darlin',” “Banana Boat,” as well as some spiritual and patriotic pieces. In addition to the choral concert, there will be a silent auction held during the concert only, with the winners announced at the end of intermission. Cash, checks, PayPal all accepted. Including in the auction are beautiful items like homemade quilts, wall hangings, jewelry, items made from wood, and much more
Tickets at the Sanctuary door - $20. $5 for ages under 18.
Come enjoy a wonderful afternoon of song, laughter, tapping of feet and many smiles!
