I hope all of you enjoyed watching the Olympics as much as we did. It really did help us through some tough weather days these past two weeks, so we are now at the end of the month and spring is only a few short weeks away!

Link and Julie Brown escaped the rough weather by taking a cruise with all of their family in celebration of their 50th wedding anniversary. Getting to their destination proved to be quite a challenge for them as the weather impacted flights all up and down the East Coast.

Originally scheduled to fly from Portland, they were informed just before leaving for the airport that their flight had been canceled, After many hours on both the phone and the computer they were lucky enough to catch a flight out of Manchester, N.H., traveling to Detroit then on to Atlanta. From there they connected to Florida. Flights were delayed all along the route but with persistence and some luck they were able to make the ship’s departure on time.

Apparently their trip had been in the planning stages for the past 5 years so they were extremely relieved when they were finally able to board ship. They had a wonderful time with their children and grandchildren enjoying all of the amenities that the ship had to offer, such a special time on such a special occasion for a very special couple. Happy anniversary, Link and Julie!

The Webster family was busy over Presidents Day weekend; Steven, his wife Theresa, and their children Nicole and Ethan met for a quick ski trip to Utah. Ethan is a freshman at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. and is enjoying his college experience. Kim Webster, who lives in St. Louis, Mo., flew to New York for a reunion with her Colgate College roommates, something they try to do each year.

Kim interviewed for a new position with a law firm that will allow her the opportunity to have a home office. Jean is busy preparing for her chorus group’s performance of ”Shakespeare in Concert,” a program that pairs Portland actors with chorus members. The performance is scheduled for March 7, 8 and 9 at the Bowdoin Chapel. Jean is happy to provided tickets for anyone who is interested.

In recent news from Dianne Eakin, Dianne reports that things are very busy in Bonita Springs and she had just played a round of golf with Joyce Richter and Pam Nolan. (Hopefully we all will be playing a round of golf very soon!) Dianne is looking forward to visiting her brother Steve and his wife Maggie in South Carolina. Her daughter Debi will join them as well.
