2025 Boothbay region Memorial Day Parade schedule
Please join us in honoring Boothbay region’s dearly departed veterans this Memorial Day. Keeping with tradition, Boothbay region veterans are invited to join in marching with the veteran detachment during any of the six parade locations. The veteran detachment will be led by U.S.M.C. Barry Sherman. Uniforms are encouraged, but civies are welcome too. The Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce Trolley is a part of the parades, and will transport vets who are unable to march. The trolley will depart American Legion Post #36 at 7:40 a.m. sharp enroute to the first location. The Boothbay Region Community Band will be marching while providing music, and its drummers will help keep our “troops” in step. Veterans should be prepared to march/participate rain or shine. The Community Band and other participants decide whether or not to participate due to weather related issues.
On Monday, May 26, American flags should be flown at half-staff from sun up until noon in honor of Memorial Day. They should be returned to full-staff at 12:01 p.m.
7 – 7:30 a.m.: All participants riding the trolley or school bus #1 need to be at the Legion prepared to load up and depart. All key personnel should also arrive by 7:30 a.m. for final preparations and departure to the first staging area.
7:40 a.m.: Trolley and bus #1 depart the Legion enroute to Newagen. Bus #2 departs from Boothbay Region Elementary School with the band and equipment.
8:15 a.m.: Assemble at Newagen, march off at 8:30 a.m.
9:15 a.m.: Assemble at Southport, march off at 9:30 a.m.
10:15 a.m.: Assemble at Boothbay Harbor town hall parking lot, march off at 10:30 a.m. enroute to the Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library memorial.
*The parade departs the library and marches down to the waterfront (one block) for a second ceremony at Boothbay Harbor’s Whale Park.
11:15 a.m.: Assemble at the Boothbay Common parking lot, march off at 11:30 a.m. enroute to the Boothbay Memorial.
Noon: Assemble at the East Boothbay General Store, march off at 12:15 p.m. or as soon as everyone is in place and ready.
*Break for lunch. One final ceremony takes place after lunch at the Edgecomb town hall. Every- one is invited to attend this brief (static) ceremony.
1:30 p.m.: Assemble at the Edgecomb Town Hall memorial for a brief ceremony.
