Planning for summer
The engineering committee, under the chairmanship of Neil Newton, met again last week to review ongoing development of plans for the McKown House property. The floor plans are nearly complete and they include major space for the headquarters and operations center of the Junior Program as well as office space for the club manager and bookkeeper plus records storage. Still under study is how the top floor might be configured for Senior Staff housing. Yet to be heard are cost estimates and time schedules following approval.
Peggy Chapman reports that she and Sue Bradley will be meeting with Harbor Embroidery next week to place some orders for next summer’s clothing. We have received some wonderful blue and white and red and white striped tote bags to entice all and will feature brass chart weights for a sure to please gift for all the captains of every boat.
Also in the planning mode is the Dock Party, which this year will be chaired by Lucy and Bob Scribner. “The ever popular Dock Party is scheduled for June 28 this year,” Lucy writes. “As in past years, we’ll have a diversity of big, little, expensive, modest, sail, and power boats — most of which are snuggled in their winter berths as I type!”
Save March 20 for the next “winter” social event to be held at the home of Dee and Howard Wright on Southport.
Don’t forget to complete and file the personal information forms that went out with your dues bills. These are critical for providing correct information in the annual roster. Such little things as cell phone numbers and email addresses are sometimes vital to other members and to club officials. Last summer there were many complaints like, “My email address is wrong in the Roster.” It is only wrong when you fail to submit the proper information to Donna.
