Winter reunion in West Palm Beach
This is the week of the winter reunion that really escapes winter. As we have yet another snowstorm in Maine, the snowbirds and their welcome or unwelcome visitors are enjoying a respite at the PGA resort in West Palm Beach for social and athletic events. Planned and executed by Paul and Sharma Schacknow, over 40 members are enjoying numerous gatherings and events. We will have a complete report for next week's paper if our onsite reporters file their prose on time.
Next month we will have a gathering back home in Maine at the home of Howard and Dee Wright who started the winter series many years ago.
Yesterday was also a first as a midwinter board meeting was held in Florida with board members and committee chairs from all over the country participating by telephonic connection. Commodore Krow reports good attendance and healthy discussions.
The building Engineering Committee under Chair PC Neil Newton has met yet again and plans are rapidly developing for implementation of the revised master plan. The Lobster Run Committee under the Chairmanship of PC John Chapman has begun its organizational work leading up to this summer's event. Bob Scribner, himself a Lobster Run competitor, is leading a team to direct the race itself and to promote participation by offshore sailors.
