Cozy social event
It was bitter cold outside, but warm and cozy inside the Smith's home in Edgecomb where Michael and Abby welcomed over 20 stalwart winter hibernators for the monthly social event.
Talk was of the weather, of getting away from the weather, and of better things to come in the summer. Much concern was expressed for the healing of Norm Bleycher who has now been transferred to a rehab facility. Norm has a great deal of healing to do and we all are pulling for him.
The Lunch Bunch and mens luncheon are both steaming along. Peggy Chapman reports that there were 11 at last week’s meeting and bigger crowds are expected in the coming weeks.
One of the hot topic was that the Dining Room comfort furniture was about to get a facelift. New fabrics have been selected and work on the cushions will be underway shortly. Speaking of cushions, Abby Smith's needlepoint artistry was a hit of the cocktail party.
Also word comes that Sara Seepe's mahjong beginners class is well attended and now in its third week of activity. Call Sarah if you have questions. This columnist believes that there was a mini BHYC reunion in the BVI yesterday. It seems that a certain flag officer was there as well as regulars Ken and Kate and Biron and Jane.
As your columnist stood on the top deck of his ship in Roadtown he could almost see the BHYC Burgee flying on several nearby masts. Another of the Flags couldn't find enough cold here so he went chasing snow in Austria. Many more will descend on West Palm next week to attend the winter reunion. If you haven't signed up you should call Paul or Sharma Schacknow to see if there is any last minute space. Please email PC Louise Holmes if you are willing to host the February Social event in the Habah.
