Weather derails some plans at the Village
Again, weather has derailed some of the Village plans for entertainment. Yet now and then, it surprises us.
Not long ago, large, fluffy snowflakes drifted down from calm, cloud-heavy skies. “That’s Hollywood snow,” said Charlotte, for it looked like a scene from “White Christmas.” After a while, it stopped — simply stopped.
When the weekend came and real, blowing snow arrived, the Midcoast Symphony’s Beethoven concert in Topsham was canceled. Our bus stayed in the Village parking lot. Will the concert be repeated later?
Next day, after early lunch, Randy Lindsay came for a mellow guitar-and-vocal recital in the Peggy Pinkham Dining Room. This was followed, a day later, by a noontime performance from Lefty, his keyboard and his saxophone.
After dire predictions of a snowstorm, a trip to Bath was postponed next day. Residents had signed up to visit Halcyon Yarns for knitting supplies, to be followed by lunch at Mae’s.
The days turned Arctic again and again, Independent Living residents dined in the cozy private dining room. Luckily, there is that amallere, warmer space for the kitchen’s Plan B for its clients.
After exercise with Sarah, the cottage contingent decided to lunch at the Inn. For this, they visited the Gregory Wing, where every Friday, residents make pizza with Activities Director Jerie Phinney.
No weather interfered with this treat!
