Christmas party December 19
December 19 is the Christmas Party at the home of PC Marianne Reynolds on Barters Island. Please remember the parking constraints and car pool if you can. Also please remember that this is a benefit event for the Boothbay Region Food Pantry so your contributions in the form of non-perishable foods or cash can be brought to the party. Or if you can't make it, you can leave either or both at the Congregational Church.
In last week's article we had a last minute notice of Buck Gillette's passing and at that time we did not know details of services, etc. A celebration of his life was held at the Lauderdale Yacht Club and a number of our membership were on hand to support Mimi and honor Buck. The family suggested donations to a suitable charity if folks were so inclined and we are bold to suggest that, with Buck's lifelong dedication to Junior Sailing, a donation to the BHYC Junior Program Foundation either for scholarships or towards the new 420 purchase would be most appropriate. Call or write PC Tony O'Neill for process if you are so inclined.
The Property Engineering Committee met yesterday to continue work on the plans and details of the property revitalization. A very preliminary basic exterior design for the McKown property has been created and the committee is at work with the designers on details of interior layouts. The Junior Program Committee met last week to finalize their wish list for space in that building and the Engineering Committee, under chairman PC Neil Newton, is reviewing that material in preparation for populating that with the designers as well.
Further study is underway as to the new utilization of the present Jr. Program and Adult Sailing office space as well as the consequences of the Juniors not using the casino in the future because they will be moving to the McKown facilities.
