Oyster

There once was a cat in Boothbay Harbor.
His name was Oyster and he loved to wander.
He was big and black and had lots of hair.
And if you tried to pet him, he didn't care.
He'd roll on his back and stretch side to side.
He knew he was gorgeous and had nothing to hide.
Then he'd hop right back up and begin his stroll.
Across the footbridge -- even in the cold.
He greeted all strangers, allowing them to stop.
They'd pet him and love him -- then off he would trot.
He'd go into town, find an open door and then prance around a little more.
He was a Boothbay Harbor legend that we will all miss.
We'd do anything for one last kiss.
Now he's up in heaven strolling again.
Across the rainbow bridge greeting old friends.
