Last 2013 potluck December 18
The turkey pies were over the top. Elaine got rave reviews for her tasty pastry creations and there were lots of second helpings consumed at the November potluck. A big shout out to Elaine and those that helped out.
A collection for the food pantry was taken up, with well over $100 collected. The funds will be greatly appreciated by the pantry, especially at this time of the year.
Dick Spofford spoke about the Boothbay Fire Department, the stations, the volunteers and the water sources among other things. He reminded folks that if there is a fire: do not all him directly, call 911. He also discussed the importance of smoke alarms, the different kinds of alarms available and the need to change the batteries annually. He said that they still go into homes for a fire and find that there are no smoke alarms in the home. Dick also took questions from those in attendance.
The last potluck of 2013 will be held December 18 at 6 p.m. The trustees and officers will be treating those attending, so just bring your beverage of choice and as always coffee, tea and water are provided. Please RSVP to Evelyn at 207-633-6977 so the trustees/officers have an idea of how many will attend for appropriate food quantities.
Would you like to create a centerpiece for your holiday table or to give as a gift? Then plan on attending the centerpiece workshop and tea that will take place December 15 at 2 p.m. at the BICA building. There will be a $7 materials charge for the centerpiece container, the candle and the holder.
Please bring clippers and any embellishments that you would like to include in your centerpiece. Because of numerous requests, there will be a bow making class as well. The workshop is open to all in the Boothbay area. Please bring an unwrapped gift for an area child. These presents will be wrapped at the workshop and distributed to children shortly before Christmas. Tea and goodies will be served. Call Judy at 207-633-5341 or Evelyn at 207-633-6977 for more information on the workshop.
