Travel safely this holiday weekend
This week’s column begins with more travel news. Sally and Alan Johnson traveled to Spain in October to celebrate Alan’s birthday. They spent a few days in Barcelona where they met their son Tim and wife Tracy and then they all traveled south to Seville to visit Tim and Tracy’s daughter and their granddaughter, Corey who is spending her Junior year abroad.
Sally said it was a wonderful experience to be there all together and see so many interesting sites. Corey is thoroughly enjoying her college the experience as well. On their return flight they stopped in London for two nights and visited with friends. They also made a stop in Reykjavik where Sally claims that the sunsets are pretty spectacular.
Link and Julie Brown also visited Spain recently. Their trip took them to Rome, Italy and then on to Alicante, Malaga and Cadi, Spain. From there they visited the Azores and then back across the Atlantic to Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Julie said they loved every minute of their 20-day trip and when they finally returned they were met at the airport by their son Chip from California who is working on his new home at Spruce Point.
Traveling back to Ocean Point for a day visit were Holly Hornor and Judy Dawson. Holly said that although quite beautiful it was much quieter than the last time she was there. She and Judy met up with Abby Dunlap and had a nice catch up with her,
Both Holly and Judy have agreed to run the rummage sale next summer so start collecting your treasures to donate. Thank you Holly and Judy for your continued effort and hard work to make this a successful activity year after year.
Dianne Eakin said that she was delighted to receive a calendar for her birthday from daughter Debbie that featured a picture of the Halloween Scarecrows in East Boothbay. Each month had a different picture; Dianne especially loved the Go Red Sox Scarecrow, as she happens to be in the picture, she is a true Red Sox fan! Belated happy birthday to you, Dianne.
As I mentioned in a previous column, Donald Demers is the featured artist at the Vose Gallery on Newbury Street in Boston from now until December 28. Although I have not yet had the opportunity to visit the gallery I have seen his wonderful collection on the gallery’s website. His paintings are amazing. Please check them out; they are truly spectacular!
If you are traveling for the holiday weekend arrive safely and enjoy your time with family, friends and loved ones, happy Thanksgiving!
