We are right around the corner from Labor Day and so is the 9th annual Bands for Books hosted by The Friends of Wiscasset Library. The fundraiser is on  Monday, Sept. 4 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lakehurst Lodge, 30 Lakehurst Lane, in Damariscotta.

Historically, our new venue, Lakehurst Lodge is known as a great place for dancing. For many years local bands from Maine graced the stage and provided popular melodies of the day, this gathering will be no different. The Salty Dogs, with members who hail from the towns of Edgecomb, Turner, Bethel and Lewiston, play the very best dance music around. In fact, their talent and performance skills are so loved by locals, this is the sixth year in a row they have played for Bands for Books. If you haven’t had the opportunity to hear them, you will not be disappointed. They offer a wide variety of music which is sure to please young and old alike. We can’t wait to see you all there!

Advance purchase tickets are $20 and tickets at the door are $25 or contact Linda Winterberg at lzwint43@gmail.com to have tickets held. Tickets may also be purchased at Wiscasset Art Walk on Aug. 31.

Bands for Books is presented by Friends of the Wiscasset Public Library and is its major fundraiser to benefit the library.
