Yacht club cocktail party November 21
The mooring field is empty; everybody has retired their boats to winter storage and the view is one of sadness and regret for days lost and never to be regained. The docks are leaving piece by piece and soon the gulls will have to find other resting places. Not to fear, however, as BHYC activities abound for the winter.
First off is the “November Thursday” cocktail party (November 21 at 5:30 p.m.), which next week will be at the home of Sandy and RC Eric Hakanson. The date is set and Jim has sent out directions. Remember that this lovely home is at the end of a winding and narrow drive and parking is at a premium, so car pool and heed the sent directions. (BYO and bring goodies to eat). Thanks to Eric and Sandy for doing this and to PC Marianne Reynolds for hosting the December party.
Mahjong is not dead! The group meets Wednesday afternoons through the winter. Call Sarah Seepe for details.
The stitch group meets on the third Tuesday in various locations including Wiscasset, Brunswick, Topsham and Boothbay. Call Gerna St. John for details on this.
Word is out that the Book Club is recruiting men and women for the 2014 season. They meet on the third Wednesday of the month in June, July, August and September at 4 p.m. Mary Ellen Hare has the book list and other details on this.
The Junior Program Foundation has sent out its annual appeal for participation in the form of tax deductible gifts. The splendid work of this entity funds the Junior Sailing, Tennis and Golf programs and among other things hands out over $11,000 in scholarships last summer. If you have any questions about this campaign, please check with PC Tony O’Neill or Mary Lou Newstead.
