Dear Editor:

I am writing to urge the Boothbay Harbor community to write in Mike Bartles for the Boothbay Harbor School Board on May 1.

I believe he is the best person for the board, will fight for the future of our school, understands the financial challenges we face and will work to resolve them without cuts that harm the school.

Mike Bartles has a background in education, works locally as a sailmaker, and is a parent with children in our school system. As someone born and raised on the peninsula, I understand that the school is the heart of our community, without the school our community will burn out before our very eyes. Our town needs a candidate who knows that the Wildcats and Seahawks of today are shaping the tomorrow we want to be and are known as now, an example of true community that others admire. Mike Bartles understands this responsibility and will work to protect and strengthen our school.
