Trump voters regret
Dear Editor:
Many who voted for Trump now have regrets. They believed that they wouldn't be affected by his wrecking ball approach to government and now are suffering the consequences all over the country. Those of us who voted against him understood the damage that would be done if he was elected again. It is clear that what is happening is unprecedented and will have lasting affects on all of us.
The ramifications of blatant firing of government employees will be felt for years to come.
Just a sample. Medical research in pediatric cancer, Alzheimer's disease, infectious disease and the probable outcomes of another pandemic, and much more are all under the cutting blade. Medical scientific research is also done in Maine.
Farmers here in Maine and all over the country who signed contracts with the government to improve their practices are hung up to dry with payments not forthcoming for purchases already made, putting them in financial danger. Grain rots because USAID closed. And will farmers have anyone to pick there crops as migrants are herded out of the country. Think about where much of your food comes from.\
Watchdogs at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau that make sure that financial malfeasance at major banking and credit institutions are remediated is closed.
There will again be long waits at the IRS information line because there will be fewer employees. Deal with it.
FEMA under the hatchet. Natural disaster-no help from the Feds.
Justice Department-politicized.
The list goes on and on. You don't fix problems with a chain saw. You cut after analysis and prune carefully. There is no thoughtfulness in
all of this, no consideration for the impact on people's lives, no thought for the environmental impact. The adage "Be careful what you
wish for" has now become true. Is America Great Again?
