Trevett Column: Upcoming picnic, yard sale results and more
BICA’s annual picnic will be held Saturday, Aug. 22, at 4 p.m. at the hall, 24 West Side Road. The Barters Island Men’s Grill Team will provide hamburgers and hot dogs—always a treat. This year’s picnic will also include an Ice Cream Social and a BICA cake so come hungry. Please bring a picnic side dish to go with the burgers and dogs, or a dessert to share, along with your own beverage. Questions? The results are in and Billreported that Ken and Suzanne did a totally amazing job of pulling offThe Better Than A Yard Sale again this year. Along with the help of about 35workers a good amount of money was raised. It takes the whole neighborhood to make the sale work so thanks to all, along with a really big thank you to all the folks that donated items for the sale. The money raised will be used to cover the BICA hall expenses and more importantly will be used to help neighborhood folks that might need a little boost.
Thanks go out to kitchen first timers Jo and Harry and Liza for running the kitchen and organizing the really delicious food that was contributed for the July potluck.It was great to have Bill and the dishwasher back. It is never a difficult taskas many others chip in to help. If interested in helping at a future potluck, let one of the officers or board members know.
It is last call for tickets for lobster raffle tickets. Laura and Bucky will again be available at the picnic for lobster raffle tickets--$1 per ticket or 6 tickets for $5. Everyone wants to get in on this. The winning ticket will be drawn at the picnic with2 batches of lobsters as the prize so there are two chances of winning.You need not be present to win.
September will put us back on our normal schedule with the potluck taking place on Wednesday, Sept. 16. You might put the date on your calendar now. The Spofford Lane folks will be hosting and there will be game after dinner.
And don’t forget that Stanley Sr. and Loriann operate Seacoast Redemption located at 15 Hardwick Road. They will donate the value of your returnable to BICA if you let them know. They are located next to Dolphin Mini Golf. BICA appreciates the generosity of Stanley Sr. and Loriann.
