All of Boothbay Harbor’s finest society showed up for the third annual Southport New Year’s at Brady’s Friday night, Dec. 31 to celebrate the coming new year with the famed Lighted Lobster Trap Drop.
Murky Water Band crooned the guests with their favorite tunes and personal touches. Just before 9 p.m. Timmy Sprague and Billy Hallinan lowered the trap while Tancy Mitchell and Carole McCarthy, and anyone else who was able to count back from 10, counted down to 9 p.m. The entire crowd cheered, hooted, and hollered as they all welcomed the new year.
For the next hour all enjoyed each other’s company, listened to more music and made new friends. Everyone was safe at home before their carriages turned into pumpkins.
