Studio B presents “Requiem Trio”: An evening of music, memory and hope
Studio B, in partnership with the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor and Community Resource Council, invites the community to Requiem Trio on Saturday, Aug. 30, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. This free event—sponsored by Clark’s Cove Farm—offers an evening of song and reflection honoring those we love on the eve of International Overdose Awareness Day.
The program features three musicians whose art is intertwined with social purpose. John Schindler once thought he would become a preacher but found his true calling in songwriting and performance, using music as a way to foster belonging and community. Sam Thomas, who overcame incarceration and addiction, now shares his music as a voice of resilience, playing piano for those we’ve lost and those still struggling. Sara Trunzo blends her passion for community organizing with her talent as a singer-songwriter, creating songs that heal and strengthen social ties.
Each performer will share a 20-minute set. Interwoven between these performances will be reflections from community voices, including Peter Bruun, director of Studio B; Todd Weir, pastor of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor; Sharon Bailey, founder of Grieving Hearts of Lincoln County; and Chris Armstead, veteran and community activist.
“Together, we can soften the hardest topics—and in that sharing, discover joy we never imagined,” says Bruun, whose artistic practice centers on themes of loss and connection.
Following the program, guests are invited to a lemonade reception on the church lawn, weather permitting.
Requiem Trio is more than just a concert—it is an act of collective care and a celebration of resilience. Whether attending to remember a loved one, support those impacted by substance use, or simply to experience an evening of powerful music, all will leave feeling uplifted and connected.
