Southport Yacht Club
As the season is winding down, we are packing in our favorite August events and making the most of our days on the island. This weekend’s beautiful weather was a treat for all who were out on the Sheepscot and waters beyond.
Saturday night’s Beer Tasting was a hit among the old and young and even the gluten-free! Team Chatterton hosted the 12th annual event, featuring six beers made primarily in Maine and New England. Three cheers for another year of delicious and interesting beers. Thank you, Team Chatteron! If you were wondering about the meaning of the Gaelic writing on Geoff’s shirt, you won’t be surprised that it’s related to beer. "Beoir le do thoil" is an Irish Gaelic phrase that means "Beer, please." Here is a list of the beers we sampled, in order.
-
Bar Harbor Blueberry from Atlantic Brewing
-
Sacred Profane Pale Ale
-
Orange Bike Pilsner-gluten free
-
A special beer brewed by Geoff Chatteton himself-Irish Red
-
Russian River Pliny the Elder DIPA
-
August Street Six Grain Milk Stout
Saturday, Aug. 15, is our General Meeting starting at 6 p.m. The Commodore’s Closing Reception, Passing of the Flags, and racing awards will start immediately after the General Meeting. Commodore Pete says the bar will be open during the meeting and we will change the tone of the meeting with less reports as we welcome a new commodore and review the season and plan for the future. Please bring an appetizer and plan to attend.
