Southport Planning Board nods deck replacement
The Southport Planning Board’s Dec. 3 meeting may have lasted all of four minutes. The board unanimously approved Mimi Jordan Sherin’s application for replacing a rotting open deck at her Breakneck Hill Road property. Her proposal includes opening the deck around the south side and connecting it to the west side.
The board reviewed her application last month, but she withdrew it prior to final approval. Chairman Skip Simonds reported the application was withdrawn after the board discovered her mapping didn’t include some of the property’s structures. “We were set to approve it, but we noticed she hadn’t included some of the structures on the land. So she withdrew it. I’m going to make a motion to approve it because we almost approved it last month," Simonds said.
She amended the map and resubmitted the application, which met municipal ordinance requirements, according to Code Enforcement Officer Mike Thompson.
Her property is in a residential district. Jordan Sherin resides in Branford, Connecticut.
The board meets next at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7 in the town hall.
