Southport accepts E.M. Wood sand bid
The town of Southport received only one bid for sand, and on Sept. 17, accepted it. Selectmen unanimously approved paying $30 per yard for this winter's sand allocation.
In other action, selectmen received a thank you note from the Boothbay Region Health Center for the town's $13,000 contribution in March. Selectmen also approved several town hall rental requests for school band rehearsals. Eileen Higgins received approval for rental on Dec. 10. The band will rehearse in the morning and hold a 6 p.m. concert. On May 27, the band will hold a spring concert rehearsal. On June 3, the school band will hold a morning rehearsal followed by a 6 p.m. spring concert.
Other town hall rentals include a Nov. 16 request by Carole Zalucky for a Southport Island Association speaker. On Nov. 25, Southport Community School Principal Shawn Gallagher received approval to hold a community Thanksgiving dinner.
Selectmen meet next at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24 in the town hall.
