Smith for Edgecomb Select Board
Dear Editor:
Stuart Smith has lived in Edgecomb his entire life, attending Edgecomb Eddy School, Wiscasset High School and the University of Maine. I feel strongly that Edgecomb needs elected officials with experience and knowledge of both the town and state regulations. Stuart, who is running for Edgecomb’s Select Board, meets these requirements and more. His past experience as chair of both the Edgecomb Select Board and Planning Board qualify him as the perfect candidate. He has served as the president of Lincoln County Regional Planning Commission, which he helped start, and president of Healthy Kids. He also served on the boards of Mid-Maine Community Action, the finance committee for Boothbay Region Community Resources Council and Maine Climate Adaptation. I feel this shows his strong commitment to the area.
During our research for the Citizen’s Tax Group, Stuart has been able to cite many regulations, both federal and state from memory. His efforts to lower the tax burden on Edgecomb residents while saving the school has taken many hours of research into Edgecomb’s past budgets and the budgets of surrounding towns. Stu has owned and operated a successful business in Edgecomb for many years and is aware of the economic climate now that makes many decisions so difficult.
Stuart will work tirelessly to make sure all Edgecomb residents are considered in decisions made by the Select Board. Please vote for Stuart on May 17 at the Edgecomb Town Hall; 10 a.m. for the School Budget and between 1 and 7 p.m. for the referendum vote.
