It is a pleasure to publish stories about the successes gained by young people who are/were educated here in our regions.

Whenever semesters end, we receive several updates on college students who make dean’s lists, president’s lists or honors lists. Our small high schools have prepared these students well for post-graduation studies and many of them work hard while away from home. Not every college sends out updates, so if your son or daughter does get such honors, feel free to send us an email highlighting the facts. And on our pages we also enjoy listing the honor rolls from our middle and high schools.

There are three stories in this week’s issue about young people who are pursuing their dreams using their talent. Rhiannon Ramsey-Brimberg learned to play the harp and played locally as a young girl. She recently won a prestigious composer award. Gabe Tonon, a talented guitar player, has moved on from the Opera House stage to Nashville and is now touring with a popular country band. And Josh Howe, now living in Kennebunk, is using his talent as a photographer to produce a line of photo cards.

Locally, it was nice to recently publish such stories as Chelsea Simmons’ move to open a day care center in Edgecomb, Kelsy Hartley starting a health-related business and helping out at the Merry Barn, and the continued success of the Y-Arts young performers.
