Seahawks finish with big win, jump to 1st place
The Boothbay Region High School field hockey team avenged its only season loss by dominating the Hall-Dale Bulldogs, 5-0, in Farmingdale Friday afternoon, Oct. 18. Earlier in the season, the Bulldogs defeated the Seahawks, 1-0.
With the win, the Seahawks moved into first place in Class C South, jumping past Lisbon by a small Heal point margin.
Moriah Smith, the team's top scorer, gave Boothbay a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at 7:56 of the second quarter.
The Seahawks kept up the offensive pressure and held Hall-Dale to only three shots on goal for the game.
Olivia Hardwick scored early in the third quarter, at 13:45, and again in the fourth quarter at 10:02 and the Seahawks scored twice more to improve to 11-1-2 on the season. Tatum French, who assisted on Hardwick's first goal, got the Seahawks' fourth goal with 4:49 remaining and Hardwick assisted on Boothbay's final goal by Natalie Flagg with 43 seconds to play. Zuri Smith assisted on Hardwick's second goal.
Boothbay had eight shots on goal and three penalty corners. Hall-Dale had eight penalty corners and was denied a goal after an infraction.
