Afternoon poetry features Paul McFarland and Eileen Hugo
On Saturday, Oct. 25, poetry readings will be heard from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the Waldoboro Public Library, 958 Main Street. In addition to featured poets Paul McFarland and Eileen Hugo, there will be readings by poets included in the "Midcoast Poetry Journal Vol. 2" and an Open Mic. This is a free event.
Paul McFarland was a high school math teacher for 10 years in Littleton, New Hampshire. He recently retired from the commercial fishing industry where he worked for 43 years. Paul lives in rural Maine with his wife of 57 years. Paul was born and brought up in Maine and attended the University of Maine in Orono. He recently published his first poetry collection entitled "My Father's Shoes."
Eileen Hugo is a poet and author who splits her time between Massachusetts and Maine. She has received first prize in the David Osgood Poetry Contest and an Honorable Mention at the 2021 Austin International Poetry Festival. She has been published in the anthologies of The Stoneham Writers Group's book "Heels and Souls," Poet Works Press “Southern Breezes” and "The Baby Boomer Birthright," as well as "Taste of Ink," a collaboration with 10 other poets from Midcoast Maine. She also served time as Poetry Editor for The Houston Literary Review. In April of 2015, her poetry book "Not Too Far A Journey of Words" was published by LULU. Eileen has just had her debut novel, "Jenny's Journey," published by Palmetto Publishing.
