Ross Gaffney wins MVC 1600M race walk championship
The Boothbay/Wiscasset boys track and field team scored 35 points and finished in sixth place in the Mountain Valley Conference championship meet at Maranacook Community School in Readfield May 29. Lisbon won the meet scoring 143 points. Winthrop finished second with 140 and Mountain Valley had 51. Ross Gaffney won the 1600M race walk championship with a seven-minute, 42.32 time.
In the 1600M, Boothbay/Wiscasset's AJ Crocker finished fifth with a five-minute, 2.19 second mark. Dirigo's William Morris won with 4:34.73. In the 3200M, Crocker finished third with a 10-minute, 32.26 second mark. Carrabec's Desmond Robinson won with 10:15.82.
In the 110M hurdles, Boothbay/Wiscasset's Ben Zapski finished third with an 18.31 second time. Mt. Abram's Reagan Lockaby won with 17.35. In the 300M hurdles, Zapski finished third with a 47.7 second time. Mountain Valley's Logan Crews won with 45.57.
The Maine Class C State Championship meet is Saturday, June 7 at Messalonskee High School in Oakland.
