Boothbay Harbor Memorial Day: Remembering the fallen, the survivors, and the future
A warm sun shone on the veterans representing the Air Force, Army, Marines and Navy, led by U.S.M.C.'s Barry Sherman. "Big Al" Cohen drove grand marshal Jim Singer and Singer family members followed by walking vets.
They began their walk down Oak Street toward McKown, accompanied by applause for those who came to honor them and those no longer living.
At the Memorial on the lawn of Boothbay Harbor Memorial Library, Imij Armstead sang the "Star Spangled Banner." Rev. Todd Weir of the Congregational Church of Boothbay Harbor delivered the Memorial Day speech at BHML. Rev. Weir emphasized the sacrifices of those who lost their lives and all who have served our country, defending the Constititution of the United States, and all of its citizens.
The 21-Gun Salute followed Singer's placement of the wreath.
