Relaunching Diabetes Support Group
MaineHealth Lincoln Hospital is relaunching its Diabetes Support Group, offering free meetings for people living with diabetes, family members, caregivers and anyone interested in healthy living.
The support group will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. on the second Thursday of August, November, February and May at the Webster Van Winkle Building, 79 Schooner St. in Damariscotta. Participants may also attend virtually via Zoom.
Each meeting will focus on a different topic related to diabetes management, nutrition and overall wellness. The first session will be held Thursday, Aug. 13, 1-2 p.m., and will feature a "Recipe Swap with the Dietitian."
Participants are invited to share experiences, exchange diabetes-friendly recipes and learn practical ways to make favorite dishes healthier.
Attendees are encouraged to bring a favorite recipe to share, whether it's an appetizer, meal, snack or dessert. Printed copies are welcome and will be shared with the group. If a recipe is not considered diabetes-friendly, a dietitian will provide suggestions for healthier modifications. Participants may also choose to bring a prepared dish for sampling.
The Diabetes Support Group is free and open to all members of the community.
To register for either in-person or Zoom participation, call 207-563-4442 or 207-563-4126. Participants attending virtually must provide an email address to receive Zoom login instructions.
