'Quiet the Sirens': Hope and conversation around PTSD
Lincoln Theater is pleased to present a free community screening of the documentary film “Quiet the Sirens,” followed by a talkback, Wednesday, April 15 at 7 p.m. In partnership with Upwell Psychiatry, this screening provides audiences with a powerful story of healing, resilience, and new possibilities for treating trauma.
Directed by filmmaker Mike Bernard, whose previous documentary “Coast Modern” earned international recognition, “Quiet the Sirens” blends personal storytelling with expert insight in a way that is both informative and deeply human. The documentary follows three firefighters as they navigate life after PTSD, each at a different point in their recovery.
Through honest and deeply personal interviews, the film reveals the weight of their experiences and the hope they find through Roots to Thrive, a groundbreaking initiative that combines group therapy with the transformative power of psychedelic ketamine, offering new hope to those struggling with trauma. As their personal stories unfold, the film opens up a larger conversation about mental health care, challenging stigma and highlighting emerging approaches.
Following the free screening, there will be an opportunity to hear directly from those involved in “Quiet the Sirens.” A live Zoom Q&A, moderated by special guest Jaclyn Burskey of Upwell Psychiatry, will feature firefighters from the film along with a clinician from Roots to Thrive.
“Quiet the Sirens” is a free event presented in partnership with Upwell Psychiatry in Bath. Lincoln Theater is located at 2 Theater Street in the heart of downtown Damariscotta. More information is available at www.LincolnTheater.org, info@LincolnTheater.org and 563-3424.
