Potluck November 20
Those who attended the October potluck got to socialize with gypsies, clowns, bag ladies and assorted other characters.
The hall was filled with folks in costume or seasonal themed attire. Barb, Judy, Irena and Arlene had the hall festive with orange party lights and tables decorated with pumpkins and assorted ghoulish items.
The highlight of the evening came when judges, Tom, Joan and Bob, picked the winners of the costume contest.
The winners of the group prize were the American Bandstand survivors (all 13), who made a really grand entrance, led by Dick Clark, strolling in with their walkers, canes, crutches, etc. The hairdos for the group were wonderful and gave everyone a good laugh thinking that at some time each of us had probably worn one of those same hairdos. Their entrance was enhanced by music on the jukebox, which also added to the evening’s fun atmosphere.
The winners of the bogus cash prizes were: Mel as an American Bandstand survivor for the funniest; Laura as an American Bandstand survivor for the prettiest; Louise and Paul as bee keeper and bee for most original; Kim as a clown won for most colorful; and Roland as Big Bird’s dark side won for the ugliest. Kathleen won the phony trip prize for her best all around witch costume.
The November potluck will be held November 20 at 6 p.m. Tom and Elaine are making turkey pies and are asking you to bring an appetizer or dessert to share. Bring your beverage of choice and as always coffee, tea and water are provided.
There will be a collection for the Food Pantry so bring something (cash or food items) to donate. Dick Spofford will be speaking about safety tips for the winter, i.e. wood stoves, alarms, etc. It is guarantied to be a fun and informative evening.
