Plummer pleads 'guilty' to BBH 2023 shooting incident
Matthew A. Plummer, 41, of Boothbay Harbor pled guilty Sept. 24 to attempted murder and four other charges during a plea and sentencing hearing in Lincoln County Unified Criminal Court.
On March 19, 2023, Plummer was arrested following an incident at Campbell Creek Complex in Boothbay Harbor. He was charged with three felonies: One Class A offense, aggravated attempted murder, and two Class C offenses, illegal possession of firearms and violating conditions of release. He was later charged with illegal reckless conduct and creating a police standoff.
The shooting victim, Wiscasset’s Thomas Hourihan, was treated for 10 gunshot wounds and was later transported to a hospital. Law enforcement reported Hourihan survived the incident.
On Sept. 23, Plummer pled guilty to attempted murder, illegal possession of a firearm, reckless conduct with a dangerous weapon, violating condition of release and a police standoff. Plummer was sentenced to 30 years in prison with all but 20 years suspended for attempted murder. For illegal possession of a firearm, he was sentenced to five years.
Plummer was sentenced to five years for reckless conduct with a a dangerous weapon. He received a five-year suspended sentence for violation condition of release. For the police standoff, Plummer received six months in prison.
Plummer must also pay a $205 victim's compensation fee.
He is eligible to leave prison in 2044. On Counts 1 and 4, the sentences are to be served consecutively. On Courts 2, 3, and 5, his terms are to be served concurrently to Count 1. Once Plummer leaves prison, he will be under six years’ probation. Plummer is prohibited from contacting Hourihan and Lindsey Hook. Other orders include not possessing weapons or using drugs and alcohol.
