Plan B, again
Residents dined at 5 p.m. on Super Bowl Sunday. Many watched the game on TV; the most rabid Patriot fans were a little less anxious to see the Broncos and the Seahawks play. They weren’t our Boothbay Region Seahawks, after all, but the team from Seattle.
Next morning, in the Peggy Pinkham dining room, there was bridge as usual. Because there are dedicated bridge players, two full mornings a week are given over to the game. Volunteer Jane Larsen comes to help. More players are always welcome; the games begin at 9 a.m.
Mondays (as well as Wednesdays and Fridays), at 10 a.m., Sarah Gudroe leads exercise sessions upstairs in the exercise room. Sarah keeps track of the capabilities of class members and shows how some exercises may be modified for the safety of everyone.
“Stitches” has gathered knitters, embroiderers and other crafty people since St. Andrews Village Inn opened its doors in 2000. At the moment, this gentle group is about to take a sabbatical, unless any residents would like to continue this sociable weekly morning meeting in the library.
A planned trip to Halcyon Yarn and lunch at Mae’s in Bath was postponed until next month. Plan B included catching up with correspondence, working on a large and complicated jigsaw puzzle and grocery shopping.
Bunny did a little TV research. Finding little-known channels, she made a list of what’s available and their numbers for easy reference.
Nobody at the Village was amazed at Wednesday’s day-long snow. The newspapers didn’t come. The monthly Episcopal Eucharist service in the Assisted Living chapel was called off. Only the TV news people seemed truly astonished. But this is Maine and this is winter — what did they expect? What better time was there to play bingo? And it wasn’t even Plan B.
Friday, Matthew Ryder, with electronic background music, sang love songs for Valentine’s Day later in February.
