Boothbay qualifies for state XC championships

The Boothbay Region High School cross country boys and girls teams will advance to the state championships this year. Both teams qualified at the Southern Maine Class C regional championships Oct. 25 in Cumberland.
The state championship meet is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 1 at Cony High School, with start times for BRHS at 1:40 p.m. and 2:20 p.m.
AJ Crocker led the boys in eighth place with a 17:54.49-minute finish. Other results were: Louie Caidoc, 25th, 19:33.41; Ross Gaffney, 38th, 19:53.58; Jackson Zehm, 40th, 20:07.64; John Cooper, 45th, 40:43.56; Ben Gapski (Wiscasset), 57th, 21:21.55; and Nathan Percival, 58th, 21:22.39.
Maddie Andreasen led the girls in 13th, with a 22:49.06-minute finish; Audrey Robinson, 27th, 24:51.81; Lexi Hughes, 39th, 26:28.08; Maggie McCarthy, 41st, 26:36.66; Abby Orchard, 54th, 29:02.34; Rose Campbell, 62nd, 30:25.47; and Hannah Kreft, 74th, 35:13.35.
The girls team placed sixth out of nine with 133 points and a 25:57 average. Waynflete School won with 52 points and a 22:53 average. The boys team placed seventh out of 13, with 143 points and a 19:38-minute average. Winthrop High School won with 39 points and a 18:10 average.
