North Haven scores victory over Wiscasset girls, 38-21
It was an all too familiar scene Jan. 24 for the Wiscasset girls' basketball team. Michelle Farrin scored the team's lone two points in the first quarter after North Haven had scored the game's first 10.
"We've struggled especially in the first quarter," Wiscasset coach Dana Lawrence said. "We start slow, and I think we average about four points in the first quarter."
The Lady Wolverines played catch-up from a 10-2 start, but could never rebound from the first quarter deficit. Wiscasset lost to North Haven, 39-21.
The team's offensive struggle showed up again in the fourth quarter scoring only two points. Jessie Rhinebolt's field goal was the only Wolverine fourth quarter points.
"They (Wiscasset girls) showed their heart and desire, but they just couldn't sustain it," Lawrence said. "They played hard and we had a couple good runs in the second and third quarters."
Farrin was the Wolverines' leading scorer with 14. Other Wolverine scorers were Trixie Loyola with three. Olivia Marshall and Jessie Rhinebolt both had two.
Wiscasset's game against Searsport on Jan. 26 was postponed. The next game is in Islesboro versus Islesboro Central (0-13) on Wednesday, Jan. 28.
