Nicolas Hamlin announces candidacy in District 49
Nicolas Hamlin, a proud Army veteran, lifelong Maine native, small business owner, and dedicated community advocate, has announced his candidacy for the Maine House of Representatives in District 49 as a Republican.
RepresentingArrowsic, Georgetown, Phippsburg, West Bath, and Woolwich, Hamlin is stepping up to fight for lower taxes, fiscal responsibility, and policies that put Maine families and small businesses first. As the owner of a local beekeeping operation, he knows firsthand about the challenges of running a business in Maine — rising costs, overregulation, and high taxes that drive people away.
“I’m running because Maine is my home, and I refuse to watch it become unaffordable for the next generation,” said Hamlin. “As a veteran who served our country, a Maine native raised in our communities, and a small business owner keeping bees, I’ve seen how high taxes and wasteful spending hurt working families. It’s time for common-sense leadership: lower taxes, less government overreach, and real support for our local economies, working lands, and rural way of life.”
Hamlin brings proven experience to the table:
-Army veteran with a commitment to service and integrity
-Lifelong Mainer deeply connected to Sagadahoc County communities
-Successful small business owner operating a beekeeping enterprise
-Active community advocate focused on affordability and local priorities
His top priorities include:
-Lowering taxes to ease the burden on families, seniors, and small businesses
-Protecting Maine’s rural character, working waterfronts, and natural resources
-Supporting veterans, local farms, and small enterprises
-Promoting fiscal responsibility and transparent government in Augusta
Hamlin is gathering signatures now to secure his spot on the November ballot and welcomes volunteers, especially from District 49 towns. He is also accepting limited campaign contributions of $5 per Maine law. “I’m a Hamlin looking for a Lincoln,” Hamlin likes to say.
