Maine Lobster Week
First off, sorry all vegetarians and vegans – this is a plug for Maine’s popular crustacean, lobster. I was scrolling through the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce newsletter Tuesday morning and came across a listing for Maine Lobster Week (https://mainelobsterweek.com/), which is Sept. 19-26.
This summer, I have had lobster rolls, lobster bisque and surf and turf smothered in Newburg sauce but yet to have a steamed lobster. My wife (and I) have talked about it but maybe we will save the feast for during Maine Lobster Week, or maybe on National Lobster Day on Sept. 25 – or maybe we won’t wait!
The website above lists some restaurants celebrating Maine Lobster Week (Red’s Eats is the closest) and, as of today, one event – The Lobster Roll Remix Sept. 23 at Southern Maine Community College, with nine food establishments, four beer/beverage companies and more. The event benefits Maine Lobster Community Alliance, which works to protect the industry.
Check out the website … or, better yet, get your lobster any way you can get it!
