"Lights, Ladies, Legends!" new show at the Carousel
"Lights, Ladies, Legends!" opened at the Carousel Music Theater this week. If you like the music of the 1960s, this production is for you. The script was created by new playwright Elena Tarpley, featuring music from the fabulous ladies of the '60s.
Elena has been coming to Boothbay Region every summer since before she can remember. Elena’s family has both year-round and summer connections here from Bayville to Boothbay. When Elena pitched the idea for this show last summer we couldn’t wait to see what she would come up with. The original tracks and arrangements were created by our resident music director, Ashley Grace Ryan. Stage direction, set and costume design were provided by our artistic director, Kelli Leigh-Ann Connors of Lebanon, Maine.
This might be a juke box musical but Elena tells the tale of a family and friends expertly through her song selections. A group of girls gather for a sleepover filled with the music of the 1960s, laughter, and dress up. Nothing seems to get in the way of them enjoying their idols from the golden age except maybe an overly involved dad.
Come meet the newest member of our cast of characters Krista Farrell (Tilly) of Berwick, Maine. If you haven’t met Meredith Charbonnet (Leslie) over the past two seasons it is time for you to come to the Carousel. She is fabulousness in a tiny package, full of energy and a voice that fills the theater. Our Dad, because of course what parent has a name, is played by Cavonté Green of Martinsburg, West Virginia. Cavonté is a veteran here with this being his third season performing at the Carousel. The final character is Brenda played by Elena Tarpley who just happens to be the great niece of her character’s name sake Brenda Lee. Elena is also a veteran here at the Carousel with three years under her belt with many more to come!
Come support our fabulously talented 2026 cast. Local group discounts are available for our Wednesday matinees. Give Paulette a call at the theater for more information.
